Recently, I had the pleasure of creating a short film entitled “White Shadow” as part of the “Intertwined. Social Choreographies” project implemented by the Creative Social Development Foundation.
I was selected for the project from among 120 applicants – thank you very much for your trust!
“Intertwined. Social Choreographies” is a project that explores collective movement as a form of communal, cultural, and symbolic communication. As part of the project, we created original choreographies based on archival recordings of collective movement—details can be found on the project website: sploty.art
The starting point for my work was the motifs of line and shadow – I explored them both on a physical and psychological level in the context of Jungian psychology, in which the line, as a threshold, is a symbol of beginning and end, transition and transformation, suspension between identities, a symbol of maturation and change of consciousness.
Crossing the threshold involves encountering the shadow – an archetypal symbol of the unconscious and shadowy part of oneself, where repressed traits, emotions contrary to the image of the “self,” and unacceptable features are found. In the video, you can see the physical sensations, tensions, reactions, and emotions that accompanied me in the process of crossing the threshold.
